Brittany is easily reached from the UK or Ireland, with a number of direct flights and ferry services available or via the Channel Tunnel. We are pleased to give some information and useful links below to help you organise your travel to Brittany.


British Airways fly direct from London City to Quimper in Brittany up to three times a week from mid May to early September, with prices in 2016 starting at just £65 each way based on a return journey. For more information or to make a booking see www.ba.com/londoncity

Other flights into the region from the UK include:

London Stansted or East Midlands airport to Dinard on the north coast, operated by Ryanair

London Gatwick to Nantes (in a neighbouring region to the southeast) operated by Easyjet

Birmingham or Southend to Rennes (the regional capital) available from Flybe (operated by StobartAir from Southend)

Flybe also offer a number of flights to Brest, Rennes or Nantes from Manchester and from Scottish airports including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness.

Those travelling from the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland may be able to take advantage of Ryanair flights from Dublin to Nantes, or Flybe flights from either Dublin or Belfast to Brest, Rennes or Nantes.

If you are travelling from outside of Europe and arriving into London, may find the British Airways flight from London City to Quimper a convenient connection to Brittany. Or you may like to investigate flights offered by 'no frills' carriers as indicated below.

If you have booked a long-distance flight into Paris, AirFrance offer direct flights from there to Quimper, Brest, Lorient or Rennes.

Many holidaymakers from the UK and Ireland like to bring their own vehicles over to Brittany on the ferry. Brittany Ferries are the major ferry operator to Brittany, offering the following routes:

Plymouth - Roscoff Cork - Roscoff Portsmouth - St Malo Poole - Cherbourg Portsmouth - Cherbourg Portsmouth - Caen Portsmouth - Le Havre

Roscoff is the port that is furthest west, St Malo is on the border between Brittany and Normandy, and the remaining French ports mentioned are in Normandy, the region immediately to the east of Brittany.

Another option from the UK is to travel via the channel tunnel. Embarkation for Eurotunnel services is at Folkestone, disembarking in north-eastern France at Coquelles, near Calais. The onward journey by road to Brittany would typically take approximately 5 to 7 hours.

If any members of the party are travelling separately, they might find travelling as a foot passenger on Eurostar a good option. Trains depart London St Pancras, Ebbsfleet or Ashford for Paris Gare du Nord. There are frequent departures, and the journey time from London to Paris is approximately two and a half hours.

From Paris, a fast direct TGV train can be taken from Paris Montparnasse station to the major cities such as Rennes, Quimper, Brest or Lorient. Regional services then connect up to smaller stations in the region.

If you are arriving by air, you will undoubtedly wish to hire a car on arrival, in order to reach your holiday villa and subsequently to explore and enjoy the region.
