Cléder is a pretty coastal town in ‘Léon country’, which offers walkers a countryside rich in exceptional heritage. Its manor houses, fortified chateaux, allow the curious to come up close to their stone walls which are imbued with history and legend. A notable site to visit is the Manoir de Tronjoly, Breton Renaissance architecture from the 15th and 16th centuries, whose main building has a flamboyant Gothic style dormer window. It is a private property, but its grounds are open to the public.

There are also interesting religious buildings and museums to discover nearby. The coast is magnificent and can offer beautiful beaches of fine sand with attractive rocks, which is typical of this area. The architectural heritage and the agricultural hinterland are also worthy of appreciation. The Cléder shoreline is well-kept, the superb site of Kerfissien and its beaches and summer boutiques, protected dunes, and leisure lakes (Le Val Jegu) where you can relax or try all kinds of nautical activities. There is some great hiking to be had along this coast, for 12km, or shorter strolls, with an ever-changing sea view before you.

At Roguenic and Les Amiets, you will find leisure parks, tennis, mini golf, fitness circuits… A few kilometres away is Plouescat, with its superb 15th century covered market place, a listed monument, and the chateau of Kerjean, one of the most beautiful buildings in Finistère.

Do not forget to discover the local gastronomy, notably at the market which takes place on Saturday morning in Plouescat, as well as enjoying the concerts on a Tuesday evening during the summer.
